Before you even choose the boat or the caterer, one question is worth asking early on: will your event take place during the day, at sunset or at night? This choice changes the whole atmosphere of the cruise, far more than you might imagine at first.

The daytime cruise: natural light and conviviality

During the day, the Seine and its quays are seen in bright, clear light, ideal for photos and for events where the scenery needs to stay sharp and luminous: business lunches, christenings, family birthdays or brunches with friends all make the most of this format, which is often shorter and easier to fit into a schedule.

Sunset: the most popular time slot

Late afternoon brings a golden, highly photogenic light, just as the monuments begin to light up: this is often the most requested slot for a wedding, a marriage proposal or an event where you want to enjoy the daylight and then build towards a more festive evening atmosphere.

The evening cruise: Paris illuminated

At night, the floodlit monuments and illuminated bridges take over: a spectacular setting for a party, a birthday or an after-work corporate event. The atmosphere naturally becomes more intimate, carried by the play of light on the water rather than by the surrounding landscape.

How to choose for your event

Three questions usually help you decide: do you want to showcase the daytime scenery or the night-time atmosphere? Does your event have a timing constraint (a working day, a ceremony beforehand)? And finally, the season: in winter, night falls early, so you can enjoy a night-time atmosphere from the start of the evening, whereas summer leaves more room for a long twilight.
