Boarding at one quay and disembarking at another: how it works
A one-way cruise means boarding at one quay and disembarking at another. It is possible on the Seine, but you need to check that both quays can accommodate the boat, arrange how your guests will get home and plan for the cloakroom. The cost may differ from a standard round trip, as the boat then has to return to its base.
This option is popular for crossing Paris from one end to the other, or for finishing near a restaurant or hotel.

The cost of a one-way trip
The boat does not leave with your guests and must return empty to its mooring, which may be reflected in the quote. Ask from your very first conversation whether a specific rate applies. To see how this fits into the overall picture, read our guide to private hire budgets.
Compatible quays
Not every quay can accommodate every boat: height, length, accessibility and permits all vary. The arrival point must be confirmed in advance with the boat operator. See also our article on choosing your boarding quay.
Guest logistics
On arrival, guests should be able to head home or carry on the evening easily. Remember to give the exact address of the arrival quay, the nearest Métro stations and ride-hailing options. For a late evening, check the last services in advance.
The cloakroom
This is the tricky part: coats and bags left at the boarding point will not be at the arrival quay. There are two solutions: ask guests to keep everything with them, or arrange a cloakroom on board. For more detail, see our article on the cloakroom on an event boat. The running order of a standard cruise is explained in this article.
Frequently asked questions
Does a one-way cruise cost more?
Often, yes, because the boat has to return to its departure point without passengers. This extra cost depends on the distance and on the boat operator's organisation. Ask for a quote comparing a round trip with a one-way trip so you can judge the difference before choosing.
Can you disembark at any quay?
No, the arrival quay must be able to accommodate the boat safely and be authorised for this use. The boat operator confirms feasibility based on the size of the boat, accessibility and the number of guests to disembark.
What should you do with guests' coats and belongings?
Ask everyone to keep their belongings with them, or arrange a cloakroom on board with a collection point before disembarkation. Avoid leaving items at the departure quay if the arrival is elsewhere, so that nothing gets lost along the way.
