Which boat should you choose for your number of guests? From 10 to 250 people

A table of ten people does not need the same space as a cocktail reception for 150 guests. On the Seine, the number of participants is therefore the first benchmark for choosing a boat, but it is only the beginning.

In practical terms, you also need to know whether guests will be seated, whether they will be moving around, whether there will be a dance floor, or whether part of the reception will take place outdoors.

For a small group, choose a suitable layout

For a handful of people, a small private boat can offer a more coherent setting than a large barge. The space is more intimate and may suit a dinner, a family occasion or a private reception.

Between 20 and 50 people, the uses become more varied

At this scale, several configurations can be considered. A yacht, a launch or a barge may be suitable depending on the programme. The number of seats, the circulation space and the presence of an outdoor area become important.

For large receptions, circulation becomes more important

Beyond a certain number of guests, counting seats is no longer enough. You need to plan for movement, service, furniture, catering areas and possibly a dance floor. A large barge may then be better suited.

Maximum capacity is not always the right indicator

A boat may be able to hold a given number of people while being less comfortable for a seated dinner than for a cocktail reception. The thing to check, then, is the capacity for your precise configuration. That is what allows you to compare boats properly.
