Getting home after the party: cabs, Noctilien, last metro
Your guests' journey home should be planned at the same time as the end time of the party. The Paris metro closes in the middle of the night, depending on the line and the day, and the Noctilien night bus network then takes over on many routes. For a late evening, arrange group solutions such as private hire cabs or a shuttle, so that nobody is left without an option.
A few decisions made in advance make the end of the evening much simpler.

End time and last metros
Check the last train times for the line closest to the quay on the day of your event, as they vary depending on the day of the week. If the party finishes after that, let your guests know in advance so that they can make their own arrangements. Details on getting to the quay can be found in our guide to access and transport.
Noctilien and night buses
The Noctilien serves many areas of Paris and the Île-de-France region after the metro has closed. Services are less frequent than during the day: look up the routes and stops closest to the quay and include them in the invitation. It is an affordable option, but a slower one.
Shared cabs and shuttles
For a group, a pre-booked private hire cab or a shuttle can be more comfortable. You can also suggest car sharing between guests who live in the same area. The pick-up point should be clear, safe and easy to reach from the gangway.
Guest safety
- avoid guests waiting alone on a quay at night;
- appoint someone to make sure that everyone has left;
- prepare an information note with useful phone numbers for the end of the evening.

Frequently asked questions
How late does the metro run in Paris?
Last metro times vary by line and by day, and on some lines they are later at weekends. Check the official timetable for the line closest to the quay for the exact date of your event.
Is the Noctilien a good way to get home?
It is an affordable option with wide coverage, but services are infrequent. It is useful for guests living along the routes, but less so for a quick journey home for a large group. Include the stops near the quay in your invitation.
How do I organise a group journey home by cab?
Book in advance or tell your guests where the pick-up point is. You can also suggest grouping guests by the area they live in. For a large group, a dedicated shuttle is easier to coordinate than a series of individual journeys.
